Craig Lowndes’ final Bathurst 1000 as a full-time Supercars driver was nothing short of iconic. Alongside co-driver Steven Richards, he secured a historic victory in the 2018 Great Race—his seventh Bathurst 1000 triumph, matching Jim Richards’ tally and second only to the legendary Peter Brock.
Starting 9th on the grid and facing early steering challenges, the duo held their nerve. When defending champion David Reynolds suffered cramping on Lap 135, Lowndes seized the moment—powering to a dramatic and emotional win. This race also marked Lowndes’ record-breaking 14th podium finish at Mount Panorama, surpassing motorsport legends Brock, Perkins, and Richards.
