Shell V-Power Racing Team #17 Ford Mustang GT 2025 NTI Townsville 500 Indigenous Livery Will Davison
The Shell V-Power Racing Team unveiled its striking, yet subtle 2025 Indigenous livery ahead of the Darwin Triple Crown and like many teams, carried it through to the Townsville 500 round. The bold new design was showcased on both Shell V-Power Mustangs and drew attention for its rich
cultural significance and intricate detail.
The artwork, created by renowned artist Kurun Warun, flowed across the top of the Mustang and was inspired by the natural elements of the land and told a powerful story of intergenerational teaching and cultural sharing. At the heart of the design was a traditional kangaroo hunting dance, symbolising the transfer of knowledge and skills from Elders to the younger generation — a timeless tradition embedded in many First Nations communities.
Kurun’s piece featured a mother figure passing on skills, with his wife and three children observing behind her. On the opposite side, older community members were depicted watching as well, representing the collective responsibility of raising and guiding youth. The livery not
only celebrated Indigenous culture but also honoured the vital role of community in shaping future generations.
